2. The drive shaft seals are located on the gearbox side where they are attached. If you suspect a leak through these seals, lift the vehicle and place it on stable stands. If the seals are leaking, oil may be found on the side of the gearbox.
3. Remove the drive shafts as described in Chapter 8.
4. Using a screwdriver or pry bar, carefully remove the seal from the gearbox hole.

5. If the cuff cannot be removed with a screwdriver or crowbar, you must use a special device for removing cuffs (available in auto parts stores).
6. Using a length of pipe or a large deep socket as a mandrel, install the new seal. Insert the seal without tilting until it stops. Lubricate the edge of the new seal with multi-purpose grease.
7. Reinstall the drive shafts. Be careful not to damage the edges of the new seals.
8. The speedometer cable and pinion housing are located on the transmission housing. Leaks through the seal or O-ring can be detected by leaks around the cable drive housing.
9. Disconnect the speedometer cable from the gearbox.
10. Unscrew the fixing bolt, remove the speedometer cable assembly.
11. Remove the spring pin and separate the drive gear from the clutch.

12. Install a new O-ring onto the drive pinion housing and install the housing in place using a new spring pin.
