2. When disassembling, place the parts in the correct order to facilitate reassembly.
3. Observe the following rules:
- A) Before working on electrical equipment, disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.
- b) If it is necessary to disconnect the battery for inspection or repair work, be sure to first disconnect the cable from the negative terminal that is connected to the vehicle body.
- V) When carrying out welding work, disconnect the battery and the connectors of the electronic control units.
4. Check the reliability and correct fastening of the couplings and fittings of hoses and wire connectors.
5. Parts not to be reused.
- A) Firm "Mitsubishi" recommends replacing oil seals, seals, O-rings, lock washers, cotter pins, plastic nuts (with a kapron skirt) for new ones.
- b) Parts that cannot be reused can be marked in the figures or in the text.
6. Before carrying out work in the spray booth, disconnect and remove the battery and electronic control units from the vehicle.
7. When performing assembly operations, depending on the location of the parts:
- A) If necessary, apply sealant to the gaskets to prevent leaks.
- b) Apply oil to moving parts.
- V) Specific oil or grease must be applied at pre-specified locations (on oil seals, etc.) before assembly.
8. Do not allow oil or gasoline to get on the rubber parts of the car.
9. Carefully observe all specifications regarding tightening torques for threaded connections. Be sure to use a torque wrench.
10. Depending on the nature of the repair being made, it may be necessary to use special materials and special tools for maintenance and repair.
11. When replacing blown fuses, ensure that the new fuse is rated for the correct amperage. DO NOT exceed this current rating or insert a lower rating fuse.
12. Appropriate precautions must be observed when jacking up the vehicle and placing it on stands. It is necessary to ensure that the lifting of the car and the installation of supports under it are carried out in the places intended for this.
- A) If the vehicle is to be jacked up only at the front or rear, it must be ensured that the wheels of the opposite axle are securely locked in order to ensure safety.
- b) Immediately after jacking up the car, be sure to place it on stands. It is extremely dangerous to carry out any work on a car hung out on only one jack.
- V) To avoid scuffing the body, place a piece of rag under the jack stop (to prevent the formation of corrosion caused by damage to the paintwork and protective coating).
