If the work has been done carefully, all components have been repaired or replaced, the engine is ready for assembly. This is the most enjoyable part of the job.

Gather up all the rags, old parts, dirty cleaner, wash your hands and lay out the clean tools on a clean workbench.

You will need plenty of clean, lint-free rags, a can of clean motor oil, and a set of engine gaskets. The gaskets are sold as a set. You will also need a torque wrench.

From this point onwards, the nuts and bolts must be tightened to the specified torque. Use open-end or ring spanners to pre-tighten the nuts and bolts, but use a torque wrench for final tightening. We have tried to describe the work in sections without being dogmatic. The same applies to assembly. We recommend that you do the work without interruption. Put the crankshaft back in place, install all the main bearings and plan the subsequent operations. So if you are unsure about something, think it over again.
