Removal
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Warning! If the car stereo system is equipped with a security code, make sure you have the correct combination to activate the audio system before disconnecting the battery!
2. Disconnect the electrical wiring from the air flow meter and remove the breather pipe.
3. Loosen the fastening nuts and remove the air intake assembly with the resonator.
4. On models equipped with ECS type active suspension, disconnect the electrical wiring and air line from the air compressor assembly. Remove the three bolts securing the compressor to the chassis.
5. Jack up the car and place it on supports.
6. Remove the crankcase protection elements.
7. On 1.5L models, remove the heat shield located under the intake manifold.
8. If necessary, disconnect the speedometer drive cable from the transmission.

9. Disconnect the electrical wiring from the starter.

10. Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the starter.
Installation
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Make sure that the mounting bolts are tightened to the required torque (31 Nm).
2. Connect the negative cable to the battery and check the proper functioning of the starting system.
