Transfer case rear oil seal installation details
1 - Air release valve; 2 - Gearbox suspension support bracket (only models with locking differential); 3 - Dust cover; 4 - Seal; 5 - Box extension casing
Removal
1. The installation details of the transfer case rear oil seal are shown in the illustration.
2. Jack up the car and place it on supports.
3. Disconnect the cardan shaft from the transfer case. Place a drain pan under the rear of the transfer case housing.
4. Using a blunt flat-blade screwdriver, carefully pry the old seal out of its seat in the dust cover.
Installation

1. Carefully seat the seal in the dust cover - a socket head of the appropriate size or a section of pipe of the appropriate diameter can be used as a mandrel when seating the new seal.
2. Connect the cardan shaft to the transfer case.
3. Lower the vehicle to the ground and check the transmission fluid level in the transfer case (see Chapter Settings and ongoing maintenance).
