Examination

If the fan motor does not turn on, first check the thermal switch. Then check the fan motor as follows:

Using 2 auxiliary wires, connect the motor directly to the battery. To do this, connect terminal 2 of the connector to the positive terminal of the battery, and terminal 3 to the negative terminal. The motor should start, otherwise it must be replaced.

Caution: If the engine runs under these conditions and the thermal switch is OK, the radiator fan relay should be checked.

Removal

Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.

Caution: This erases data in the electronic memory, such as the engine fault memory or the radio receiver code. Disconnect the battery only when the ignition is switched off, otherwise the fuel injection device control unit may be damaged. Before disconnecting the battery, read the instructions in the "Radio receiver" and "Removing and installing the battery" sections.

Disconnect the fan connector.

Loosen the fan frame mounting bolts "3".

Tilt back and pull out fan motor "2" with the frame.

While holding the fan impeller "1", loosen the central bolt on the motor.

Loosen the mounting bolts and remove motor "2" from the frame.

Installation

Fasten the fan motor to the frame and the impeller to the motor.

Secure the motor with the frame to the radiator.

Connect the fan connector.

Connect the ground cable to the battery.

set the time on the clock and set the security code on the radio receiver, if available.

Check the operation. To do this, warm up the engine until the fan turns on.
