Examination
If the fan motor does not turn on, check the thermal switch first. Then check the fan motor as follows:
Using 2 auxiliary wires, connect the motor directly to the battery. To do this, in the connector, connect terminal 2 of the connector to the positive terminal of the battery, and terminal 3 to the negative terminal. The motor must work, otherwise it must be replaced.
Caution: If the motor is running under these conditions and the thermal switch is OK, check the radiator fan relay.
Removing
Disconnect the earth cable from the battery.
Attention: This erases data in electronic memory, such as engine fault memory or radio code. Disconnect the battery only with the ignition off, otherwise the fuel injection control unit may fail. Before disconnecting the battery, read the instructions in sections "Radio" And "Removing and installing the battery".
Disconnect the fan connector.
Loosen fan frame mounting bolts -3-.
Tilt back and pull up blower motor -2- with frame.
Hold the fan impeller -1- and release the central bolt on the motor.
Loosen mounting bolts and remove motor -2- from frame.
Installation
Fix the fan motor on the frame, the impeller on the motor.
Attach the motor with the frame to the radiator.
Plug in the fan connector.
Connect ground cable to battery.
set the time on the clock and set the security code in the radio, if available.
Check function. To do this, warm up the engine until the fan turns on.
