Camshaft drive and high pressure fuel pump

Diesel camshaft five-bearing camshaft drive is provided by a toothed belt. The timing belt also drives the high pressure fuel pump through the sprocket to the oil pump and balancer shaft. The belt tension is provided by a spring-loaded roller, which rests in the middle of the belt span between the sprockets of the fuel and oil pump. On the opposite side, the belt is pulled up by a roller. The second toothed belt drives the balance shaft.
If the camshaft is removed from the engine installed on the car, then release the wheel bolt and turn the crankshaft until the alignment marks are aligned. Turn out a bolt and remove a wheel together with a belt. Place the wheel with the belt on the lower belt cover.
Examination
Check the camshaft runout by setting it at the centers of the lathe.
The leg of the pointer indicator should rest against the central support neck. Rotate the camshaft 2 turns and read the indicator reading, which you divide in half If the runout exceeds the norm, then replace the camshaft. The procedure for checking the condition of the surface of the camshaft bearing journals is no different from that discussed above for gasoline engines.
Check camshaft end play. To measure backlash on a diesel engine, measure the width of the camshaft bearing journal, which you subtract from the width of the corresponding camshaft bed. The difference will be equal to the value of the axial play.
Installation
Lubricate the camshaft bearing journals, beds and covers with engine oil and install the camshaft into the cylinder head and rotate the camshaft a few turns.
Install the covers according to the numbers (numbers are printed on all covers except the 1st and 5th, on three covers the numbers are in the place indicated in the figure).
Wrap bolts of covers of basic necks by hand. Establish rollers in gathering with yokes. Tighten the bolts by hand. Tighten bolts of covers and axes of yokes.
The rocker axle spring is installed in a recess on the bearing cap.
Install the camshaft correctly in the cylinder head - with the pin in the upper position.
Install the camshaft seal correctly. Use the tool when installing.

Put on the toothed belt with the camshaft gear and tighten the bolt. Tighten the bolt with a torque of 80-100 Nm. Install the rest of the removed timing parts.
