The crankshaft has five bearings, the journals are sealed by two seals, one of which is installed in the cylinder block on the flywheel side, and the other in the housing, which is attached to the front engine cover. The main bearings are installed in the cylinder block bed and removable covers, which are fastened with two bolts. The axial play of the crankshaft is provided structurally by means of the middle main bearing with a flanged part. The procedure for checking the condition of the crankshaft, including checking the clearances in the bearings and the axial play, as well as installation on the engine, is no different from that discussed above for gasoline engines.
