Removal
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
If your car stereo system is equipped with a security code, make sure you have the correct combination to activate the audio system before disconnecting the battery!
2. Remove the accessory drive belts from the crankshaft pulley (see Chapter Settings and ongoing maintenance).
3. Jack up the car and place it on supports.
4. Remove the right front wheel (from the passenger side of the vehicle).
5. To gain access to the torsional vibration damper, remove the wheel arch protection liner.
6. On 1.5L, 1.6L, 2.0L and 2.4L models, remove the crankshaft pulley-to-gear wheel bolts. On 1.5L, 1.8L, 3.0L and 3.5L models, remove the crankshaft pulley center bolt.
7. Using a puller, remove the torsional vibration damper from the shaft journal.
Installation
1. After making sure that the key fits into the corresponding groove, place the torsional vibration damper on the crankshaft journal,

2. On 1.5 l, 1.8 l, 3.0 l and 3.5 l models, screw in the central pulley mounting bolt and tighten it to the required torque (70÷100 N·m for 1.5 l models, 185 N·m for 1.8 l and 3.5 l models and 150÷160 N·m for 3.0 l models).
3. On 1.5 l, 1.6 l, 2.0 l and 3.5 l models, screw in the bolts securing the pulley to the shaft gear. Tighten the fasteners to the required torque (14 N·m for 1.5 l models, 20÷30 N·m for 1.6 and 2.0 l models and 25 N·m for 2.4 l models).
4. Install the wheel arch protection liner in place.
5. Install the wheel, lower the vehicle to the ground and tighten the wheel nuts.
6. Install the accessory drive belts (see Chapter Settings and ongoing maintenance).
7. Connect the negative cable to the battery.
