Removing
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
If the stereo system installed in the car is equipped with a security code, before disconnecting the battery, make sure that you have the correct combination to activate the audio system!
2. Remove the accessory drive belts from the crankshaft pulley (see chapter Settings and ongoing maintenance).
3. Jack up the car and put it on stands.
4. Remove the right front wheel (from the passenger side of the car).
5. In order to provide access to the vibration damper, remove the wheel arch protection locker.
6. On models 1.5 l, 1.6 l, 2.0 l and 2.4 l, remove the bolts securing the pulley to the crankshaft gear. On 1.5L, 1.8L, 3.0L and 3.5L models, remove the crankshaft pulley center bolt.
7. Using a puller, remove the vibration damper from the shaft journal.
Installation
1. After making sure that the key enters the reciprocal groove, put the vibration damper on the crankshaft trunnion,
2. On 1.5L, 1.8L, 3.0L and 3.5L models, install the pulley center bolt and tighten to specification (70÷100 Nm - for models 1.5 l, 185 Nm - for models 1.8 l and 3.5 l and 150÷160 Nm - for models 3.0 l).
3. On 1.5L, 1.6L, 2.0L, and 3.5L models, install the pulley to shaft gear bolts. Tighten fasteners to the required torque (14 Nm - for models 1.5 l, 20÷30 Nm - for models 1.6 and 2.0 l and 25 Nm - for models 2.4 l).
4. Reinstall the wheel arch protector locker.
5. Install the wheel, lower the vehicle to the ground and tighten the wheel nuts.
6. Install accessory drive belts (see chapter Settings and ongoing maintenance).
7. Connect the negative cable to the battery.
