Removing
Disconnect the earth cable from the battery.
Attention: This erases data in the electronic memory, such as the engine fault memory or the radio code. Disconnect the battery only when the ignition is off, otherwise the control unit of the fuel injection device may fail. Before disconnecting the battery, read the instructions in sections "Radio" And "Removing and installing the battery".
Drain the coolant see point 3.3.
Unscrew battery holder -4-.
Unscrew windshield wiper reservoir -5- and set aside with hoses connected.
Remove air pipe from reservoir -6-.
Remove the hose -6- to the expansion tank from the radiator, first loosening the clamps.
Remove expansion tank -7-.
Disconnect the upper -8- and lower -9- coolant hoses from the radiator, first loosening and sliding the clamps back.
If fitted, disconnect hoses -10- from oil cooler. To prevent the ingress of dirt and foreign objects, plug the hoses and fittings.
Remove the connector from the thermal switch on the radiator.
Remove the radiator fan connector.
Unfasten the upper rubber support and remove the heatsink together with the fan.
If space problems occur, remove the radiator fan first.
Attention: Radiator lamellas have very sharp edges, so it is recommended to wear work gloves when pulling out the radiator.
Attention: If the radiator is to be left in the removed state for more than 48 hours, flush it with water, blow it with compressed air and plug the holes. The radiator can also be filled with coolant and set aside with the plugs closed. Otherwise, corrosion may begin, which will subsequently lead to leaks.
Installation
If necessary, replace the thermal switch and fan with a new heatsink.
Check all coolant hoses for cuts, cracks or other damage and replace if necessary. Check the condition of the rubber mountings on the radiator.
Insert the radiator from above so that the radiator fastening pins fit into the rubber supports from below.
Attach the upper support and tighten the mounting bolts.
Fit upper and lower coolant hoses and secure with clamps.
If removed, connect and secure with clamps oil cooler hoses.
Connect the wires to the thermal switch and fan.
Install and secure the windshield washer reservoir.
Install the battery holder.
Attention: When replacing or rearranging the drain plug, replace the sealing ring.
Fill in coolant see point 3.3.
Connect ground cable to battery.
If available, set the time on the clock and set the security code in the radio.
Warm up the engine and check the tightness of the hose and radiator connections.
Check coolant level, top up if necessary.
