LOCK – On models with a manual transmission, when removing the key from the ignition switch, turn the key to the ACC position and continue to press it until it turns to the LOCK position. Remove the key. On models with an automatic transmission, when removing the key from the ignition switch, first move the automatic transmission lever to position P (parking gear), then turn the key to the LOCK position and remove it.
Caution: On vehicles with automatic transmission, the key cannot be removed from the ignition switch until the automatic transmission lever is moved to position P (parking gear).
ACC – turning the key in the ignition switch to this position allows you to use the vehicle's electrical equipment without starting the engine.
ON – the key in the ignition switch is in this position when the engine is running. All electrical equipment of the car can be used.
Caution: Do not leave the ignition key in the ON position when the engine is not running.
START – turns on the starter. After the engine starts, release the key and it will automatically return to the ON position.
On vehicles with ignition switch illumination, the ignition switch illumination lamp turns on when the driver's door is opened. The ignition switch light remains on for approximately 10 seconds after the door is closed or until the ignition switch is turned to the ON position.
Sound signal warning about abandoned keys
If you open the driver's door while the key is in the ignition, an audible signal will remind you to remove the keys from the ignition.
