Manual transmission
The vehicle can be towed at any legal towing speed and without distance limitation if the transmission is in neutral. When towing the vehicle, move the gearshift lever to the neutral gear position N and the drive shift lever to the neutral position or to the 2H position.
Automatic transmission
The vehicle can be towed for a maximum distance of 30 km. The towing speed must not exceed 30 km/h. The transmission must be in neutral when towing. When towing the vehicle, move the automatic transmission lever to neutral position N and the drive shift lever to position 2H. If the transmission fails or if the vehicle must be towed further than 30 km, the rear propeller shaft must be disconnected or the vehicle must be towed so that the rear wheels do not touch the ground.
Caution: On vehicles with a rear differential lock, this system must be switched off when towing the vehicle.
Caution: When towing the vehicle, turn the ignition key to the ACC or ON position so that the steering column is not locked.
Warning! Turn on the hazard warning system.
Caution! When towing, vehicle drivers must maintain contact and move at low speed. Avoid sudden braking and acceleration.
Caution: Since the engine does not run when towing, the brake assist system and power steering system also do not work. This means that more force than usual must be applied to brake the car and turn the steering wheel.
Caution: When driving down a steep slope, the brakes may overheat, which will reduce their effectiveness. In this case, it is recommended to use the services of specialists to tow the vehicle.
Caution: When using the front towing hook, tie the rope very carefully to avoid damaging the car body.
Attention! In the following cases, you must contact a special service for towing your vehicle:
- - the engine is running, but the car does not move, or moves with an unusually loud noise;
- – there is no fluid in the automatic transmission.
Towing a car (without ignition keys)
When towing a vehicle without an ignition key, you must be especially careful because the steering column is locked. When towing, it is necessary to switch the drive shift lever to position 2H and raise the front wheels.
To ensure that the vehicle is not damaged during towing, it is necessary to use special towing equipment.
