Location of hooks for towing
1. Towing hook
2. Car lifting hook
Manual Transmission
The vehicle can be towed at any legal towing speed and without distance limitation if the gear is in neutral. When towing the vehicle, move the shift lever to neutral N and the drive shift lever to neutral or 2H.
Automatic transmission
The vehicle can be towed for a maximum distance of 30 km. The towing speed must not exceed 30 km/h. When towing, the gear must be in neutral. When towing the vehicle, place the automatic transmission lever in neutral N and the drive shift lever in position 2H. If the gearbox fails or if the vehicle needs to be towed further than 30 km, the rear propeller shaft must be disconnected or the vehicle must be towed so that the rear wheels are off the ground.
Attention! On vehicles with a rear differential lock, the system must be turned off when the vehicle is towed.
Attention! When the vehicle is being towed, turn the ignition key to the ACC or ON position so that the steering column is not locked.
Attention! Activate the alarm system.
Attention! When towing, car drivers must maintain contact and move at a slow speed. Avoid sudden braking and acceleration.
Attention! Since the engine is not running when towing, the brake assist system and the power steering system also do not work. This means that in order to brake the car and turn the steering wheel, it is necessary to apply more force than usual.
Attention! When driving down a steep hill, the brakes may overheat, resulting in reduced performance. In this case, it is recommended to use the services of specialists to tow the car.
Attention! When using the front tow hook, tie the rope very carefully so that it does not damage the vehicle body.
Attention! In the following cases, you must contact a special service for towing a car:
- – the engine is running, but the car does not move, or moves with unusual loud noise;
- – There is no fluid in the automatic transmission.
Car towing (without ignition keys)
When towing the car without the ignition key, be especially careful because the steering column is locked. When towing, shift the drive shift lever to the 2H position and raise the front wheels.
To ensure that the vehicle is not damaged during towing, it is necessary to use special towing equipment.
