Glow plugs
Glow plug wire voltage
- immediately after turning on the ignition (starter won't turn) - 9-11 V (drops to 0 V after 0.5-16 s)
- while cranking the engine - at least 6 V
- during engine warm-up —12-15 V (drops to 0 V 10-60 s after engine start)
Glow plug resistance, Ohm - 0.6
General information
- The diesel engine preheat system reduces the time required for starting at low temperatures, and makes it almost equal to the very fast starting of gasoline engines.
- The ECM determines the amount of time the glow plugs are energized after the ignition switch is turned to the ON position, as well as the amount of time the diesel engine preheating system warning lamp stays on, depending on the engine coolant temperature.
- When the ECM detects a malfunction, it sets the diagnostic code corresponding to the malfunction (associated with the fuel supply system).
