Glow plugs
Voltage at glow plug wire
- immediately after turning on the ignition (the starter does not turn) - 9-11 V (drops to 0 V after 0.5-16 s)
- during cranking of the engine crankshaft - not less than 6 V
- during engine warm-up - 12-15 V (drops to 0 V 10-60 s after engine start)
Glow plug resistance, Ohm - 0.6
General information
- The diesel engine pre-heating system reduces the time required for starting at low temperatures and makes it practically equal to the very fast starting of gasoline engines.
- The electronic engine control unit determines the time during which voltage is supplied to the glow plugs after the ignition switch is turned to the ON position, as well as the glow time of the control lamp for the diesel engine pre-heating system, depending on the temperature of the engine coolant.
- When the engine control module detects a malfunction, it sets a diagnostic code corresponding to the malfunction (related to the fuel supply system).
