1. Make sure the battery voltage is between 11-13V.

2. Make sure that the engine coolant temperature is not higher than 40°C.

3. Measure the voltage in the glow plug supply circuit of each engine cylinder.
  • For Glow Plug Cylinder #1, measure the voltage between terminal 5 of the glow relay block connector and ground.
  • For glow plug #2, measure the voltage between terminal 7 of the glow plug relay block connector and ground.
  • For glow plug #3, measure the voltage between terminal 3 of the glow relay block connector and ground.
  • For glow plug #4, measure the voltage between terminal 4 of the glow relay block connector and ground.

4. Measure the voltage immediately after turning on the ignition (without starting the engine). The nominal voltage value is 9-11 V (the voltage decreases to 0 V within 0.5-16 seconds)

Also make sure that the glow plug indicator light comes on immediately after the ignition is turned on.

Note: When the ignition switch key is in the ON position, the voltage generation time changes depending on the coolant temperature.

5. Measure the voltage while the starter is cranking the engine crankshaft.

Nominal voltage: not less than 6 V

6. Start the engine and measure the voltage while the engine is warming up. The voltage always decreases to 0 V within 10-60 seconds after the engine starts.

Nominal voltage: 12-15V

Note: When the ignition switch key is in the ON position, the voltage generation time changes depending on the coolant temperature.
