Removal



1. Disconnect the wires from the battery. Remove the battery and shelf.

2. Raise the vehicle and support it on supports.

3. Drain the transmission oil. Disconnect the levers from the gearbox. Disconnect the speedometer cable and connection connectors.

4. Remove the starter and exhaust system components if necessary.

5. Install a support under the engine. Remove the suspension elements that interfere with the removal of the gearbox. Disconnect the axle shafts.



3.6 On most models it is necessary to remove the bolts and the crankcase cover to gain access to the lower transmission-to-engine mounting bolts


6. Place a support under the gearbox and unscrew the bolts securing the gearbox to the engine (3.6).

7. Unscrew the gearbox mounting bolts and nuts. Remove the mounting bracket.

8. Check that all wires and hoses are disconnected and carefully move the gearbox away from the engine.

9. Once the input shaft is clear of the transmission, lower the transmission and remove it from underneath the vehicle.

Installation



10. Install the clutch if necessary.



11. Lift the gearbox and carefully install it on the engine.

12. Insert the gearbox mounting bolts to the engine and tighten them securely.

13. Install the transmission mounting bracket and mounting bolts and nuts.

14. Install the previously removed suspension components and securely tighten all bolts and nuts.

15. Remove the jacks that supported the gearbox and engine.

16. Install all previously removed elements and fill with transmission oil.

17. Install the battery tray, battery, and connect the cables to the battery. Road test the transmission.
