1. Remove the shift knob and center console
2. Remove the lower air tube and loosen the arm bracket nuts, if necessary.
3. Raise the car and place it on supports.

4. Remove the bolt and disconnect the extension rod from the gearbox (2.4a and 2.4b).
5. Remove the wire from the set screw, unscrew the screw and unscrew the shift rod from the gearbox.
6 Remove the heat shield, if necessary.
7. Remove the extension and switch rod.
8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

9. Remove the shift knob and center console. Check that the shift lever and levers on the gearbox are in neutral. Remove the pins and clips and disconnect the cables from the levers (2.9a and 2.9b).
2.9b Elements of the cable shift mechanism of the Galant model
10. Turn off bolts and nuts and remove fastenings of cables.
11. In an impellent compartment get checks and clips and disconnect cables from a transmission.
12. Remove cables.
Installation
2.13а Elements for fastening the cable to the gear lever - lever B must be in the neutral gear position

2.13b Adjust the cable length by turning the nuts

13. Connect the cables to the lever (2.13a and 2.13b), making sure it is in neutral gear.
14. Connect cables to a transmission and establish fastenings.
2.15 Distance A and B on both sides of the gear lever must be the same
15. After installation, the distance A and B on both sides of the gear lever must be the same (2.15). If not, adjust the cable length.
