Note: This procedure only applies to the models described below.

Cordia/Tredia 1.8L Turbo (1984 and 1985): Mirage 1.6L (1985)

1. Remove the distributor cap.

2. Remove the rotor from the distributor.

3. Using an ohmmeter, check the resistance of the sensor coil by connecting the probes to the sensor terminals (see Illustration). Compare the measurement results with the specifications given in this chapter.

11.3 On Cordla/Tredia 1.8L Turbo (1984 and 1985) and Mirage 1.6L (1985) models, use the terminals shown in the illustration to check the resistance of the sensor coil

4. If the measurement results are not within specification, replace the sensor coil (see Illustration 12.7d).

Cordia/Tredia 1.8L Turbo (1986 to 1988); Mirage 1.6 l (1986 to 1988)

5. To check the resistance of the sensor coil, disconnect the wires of the primary winding of the distributor, then use an ohmmeter to measure between the two wires (see Illustration 12.7c).

6. Compare the readings with the specification given in this Chapter.

7. If the measurement results are not within specification, replace the sensor coil.

Cordia/Tredia 2.0 l (1986 to 1988)

8. Disconnect the sensor coil wires (see Illustration 12.7b).

9. Using an ohmmeter, check the resistance between the terminals on the sensor coil.

10. Compare the readings with specification, given in this Chapter.

11. If the measurement results are not within the specification, replace the sensor coil
