2. Attach the strobe light according to the manufacturer's instructions
3. Start the engine.
4. While observing the ignition timing marks using a stroboscope, increase the engine speed.
5. The ignition timing should increase smoothly.
6. If a smooth increase in ignition timing does not occur, check the centrifugal governor weights, springs and plate.
7. If necessary, replace parts (see illustration).
