Wheel hubs equipped with disc brakes
Removing
1. Jack up the car and put it on stands. Remove the corresponding wheel.
2. Remove the caliper and brake pads (see chapter Brake system). Tie the caliper with wire to the suspension elements - make sure that the brake hose is not stretched.
3. Remove hub assembly (see Section Removal and installation of hub assemblies).
4. Transfer the assembly to a workbench and place it on a suitable stop. Using a press, press the wheel studs out of the disc.
Note. If it is not possible to use a press, the studs can be carefully knocked out with a blunt brass drift - make sure that the disc stops evenly.
Installation
1. Clean the stud holes in the hub assembly with a stiff brush.
2. Using a hammer, drive the stud into the receiving hole - do not use any lubricants or sealants.
3. The final landing of the studs is carried out using a press.
Note. If you cannot use a press, thread the stud into the socket, then put about four flat washers on it and screw on the wheel nut. While holding the hub assembly, begin to tighten the nut - the stud should go into the socket. Make sure the stud is fully seated, then remove the nut and washers.
4. Install hub assembly and adjust wheel bearings (see Section Wheel bearing adjustment).
5. Install the brake pads and caliper.
6. Install the wheel and lower the vehicle to the ground. Tighten the wheel nuts to the required torque.

Removing
1. Wheel stud installation details are shown in the illustration.
2. Jack up the car and put it on stands. Remove the corresponding wheel.
3. Remove the brake drum (see chapter Brake system).
4. If necessary, remove the brake shoes (see chapter Brake system).

Installation
1. Lubricate the knurled surface of the stud with liquid soap and thread it into the receiving hole
2. Place about four flat washers on the stud and screw on the wheel nut. While holding the flange from turning, begin to tighten the nut - the stud should go into the socket. Make sure the stud is fully seated, then remove the nut and washers.
4. If removed, reinstall the brake shoes (see chapter Brake system).
5. Install the brake drum (see chapter Brake system).
6. Install the wheel and lower the vehicle to the ground.
7. Tighten the wheel nuts to the required torque.
