Galant models through 1993 no.
Removing
1. Jack up the car and put it on stands. Remove the corresponding rear wheel.
2. Remove the brake drum/disc (see chapter Brake system).
3. Remove the wheel bearing hub assembly (see Section Removal and installation of hub assemblies).
4. Jack up the rear axle beam.
5. Disconnect the lower shock absorber support from the trailing arm.
6. Disconnect the trailing arm from the rear axle beam.
7. Turn out a through bolt of fastening of the trailing arm to a body element and remove lever assembly from the car.
Installation
1. Move the trailing arm assembly to its regular place and install the through bolt of its fastening on the body. Tighten the bolt nut to the required torque (100÷120 Nm).
2. Connect the lever to the rear axle beam. Tighten the fixing bolt with a force of 100÷120 Nm.
3. Fix the lower shock absorber support on the lever, - tighten the fixing with a force of 80÷100 Nm).
4. Remove the jack supporting the rear axle beam.
5. Reinstall hub assembly.
6. Install the brake drum/disc (see chapter Brake system).
7. Install the wheel and lower the vehicle to the ground.
Mirage models since 1993 issue.
Removing
1. Jack up the car and put it on stands. Remove the corresponding rear wheel.
2. Remove the brake drum/disc (see chapter Brake system).
3. Remove the wheel bearing hub assembly (see Section Removal and installation of hub assemblies).
4. Jack up the rear axle beam.
5. Disconnect the lower control arm from the trailing arm.
6. Disconnect from the lever the top coupler.
7. Give a through bolt of fastening of the trailing arm to a body element and remove lever assembly from the car.
Installation
1. Move the trailing arm assembly to its regular place and install the through bolt of its fastening on the body. Tighten the bolt nut to the required torque (100÷120 Nm).
2. Connect the upper tie to the lever, tighten the mounting bot with a force of 90 Nm.
3. Connect the lower control arm to the trailing arm, tighten the fixing bolt to 90 Nm.
4. Remove the jack supporting the rear axle beam.
5. Reinstall hub assembly.
6. Install the brake drum/disc (see chapter Brake system).
7. Install the wheel and lower the vehicle to the ground.
Galant models since 1994 and Diamante since 1997 issue.
Removing
1. Jack up the car and put it on stands. Remove the corresponding rear wheel.
2. Jack up the rear axle beam.
3. Disconnect the trailing arm from the knuckle of the hub assembly.
4. Give a through bolt of fastening of the trailing arm to a body element and remove lever assembly from the car.
Installation
1. Move the trailing arm assembly to its regular place and install the through bolt of its fastening on the body. Tighten the bolt nut to the required torque (137÷157 Nm).
2. Connect the lever to the fist of the hub assembly, tighten the fixing bolt with a force of 118÷137 Nm.
3. Remove the jack supporting the rear axle beam.
4. Install the wheel and lower the vehicle to the ground.
Diamante models 1992÷1996 issue
Removing
1. Jack up the car and put it on stands. Remove the corresponding rear wheel.
2. Remove the brake drum/disc (see chapter Brake system).
3. Remove hub assembly (see Section Removal and installation of hub assemblies).
4. Jack up the rear axle beam.
5. Disconnect the lower shock absorber support from the trailing arm.
6. Disconnect from the lever a rack of the stabilizer of cross-section stability.
7. Disconnect from the lever a tip of cross-section draft.
8. Disconnect the lower control arm from the trailing arm.
9. Give a through bolt of fastening of the trailing arm to a body element and remove lever assembly from the car.
Installation
1. Move the trailing arm assembly to its regular place and install the through bolt of its fastening on the body. Tighten the bolt nut to the required torque (140÷160 Nm).
2. Connect the lower control arm to the linkage assembly, tighten the mounting bolt to the required torque (140÷160 Nm).
3. Connect the tie rod end to the lever. Tighten the fixing nut to 29 Nm.
4. Install the anti-roll bar on the lever, tighten the mounting hook with a force of 40 Nm.
5. Connect the shock absorber to the lever. Tighten the fixing bolt to the required torque (90 Nm).
6. Remove the jack supporting the rear axle beam.
7. Reinstall hub assembly.
8. Install the brake drum/disc.
9. Install the wheel and lower the vehicle to the ground.
