Engines with a capacity of 1.2 / 1.3 / 1.5 l produced from January 1984 to August 1990.

The ignition coil is located on the mudguard.

The ignition coil primary winding resistance is measured between the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals of the ignition coil.

The ignition coil secondary winding resistance is measured between the positive (+) terminal and the high voltage terminal of the ignition coil.

1.3/1.5L engines produced from September 1990 to March 1992.

The ignition coil is integrated into the distributor.

The resistance of the primary winding of the ignition coil is measured on carburetor engines between terminals 1 and 3, on engines with a fuel injection device between terminals 1 and 2.
  • Primary winding resistance: 0.9-1.2 Ohm
  • Secondary winding resistance: 20-29 kOhm.

Engines 124/136 hp produced from September 1988 to April 1989.

The resistance of the primary winding of ignition coil 1 is measured between contacts 4 and 2 of the connector, coil 2 between contacts 4 and 1 of the connector. Coil 1 serves cylinders 1 and 4, and coil 2 serves cylinders 2 and 3.

Issued from May 1989 to March 1992.

The resistance of the primary winding of ignition coil 1 is measured between contacts 3 and 2 of the connector, coil 2 between contacts 3 and 1 of the connector. Coil 1 serves cylinders 1 and 4, and coil 2 serves cylinders 2 and 3.

Issued from September 1988 to March 1992.

The resistance of the secondary winding of ignition coil 1 is measured between the high voltage terminals of cylinders 1 and 4, ignition coil 2 between the high voltage terminals of cylinders 2 and 3.

Caution: When measuring the resistance of the secondary windings, the ignition coil connector must be disconnected.

  • Primary winding resistance: 0.77 -0.95 Ohm
  • Secondary winding resistance: 10.3 -13.9 kOhm

If at least one of the two measurements deviates from the required value, replace the ignition coil.
