1.2 / 1.3 / 1.5 L engines produced from January 1984 to August 1990
The ignition coil is located on the mudguard.
The resistance of the primary winding of the ignition coil is measured between the positive (+) and negative (-) ignition coil terminals.
The resistance of the secondary winding of the ignition coil is measured between the positive (+) terminal and high voltage terminal of the ignition coil.
1.3 / 1.5 L engines manufactured from September 1990 to March 1992
The ignition coil is integrated into the distributor.
The resistance of the primary winding of the ignition coil is measured on carbureted engines between terminals 1 and 3, on engines with a fuel injection device between terminals 1 and 2.
- Primary winding resistance: 0.9-1.2 ohm
- Secondary winding resistance: 20-29 kOhm.
Engines 124/136 hp release from September 1988 to April 1989
The resistance of the primary winding of ignition coil 1 is measured between pins 4 and 2 of the connector, coil 2 between pins 4 and 1 of the connector. Coil 1 serves cylinders 1 and 4, and coil 2 serves cylinders 2 and 3.
Issue May 1989 to March 1992
The resistance of the primary winding of ignition coil 1 is measured between pins 3 and 2 of the connector, coil 2 between pins 3 and 1 of the connector. Coil 1 serves cylinders 1 and 4, and coil 2 serves cylinders 2 and 3.
Issue September 1988 to March 1992
Ignition coil 1 secondary resistance is measured between the high voltage terminals of cylinders 1 and 4, ignition coil 2 between the high voltage terminals of cylinders 2 and 3.
Attention: When measuring the resistance of the secondary windings, the connector of the ignition coil must be disconnected.
- Primary resistance: 0.77 -0.95 ohm
- Secondary winding resistance: 10.3 -13.9 kOhm
If at least one of the two measurements shows a deviation from the required value, replace the ignition coil.
