To avoid injury to persons and/or damage to the electronic ignition system when working on vehicles with an electronic ignition system, the following points should be taken into account:
- Do not touch or remove ignition cables while the engine is running or while the starter is operating.
- Disconnect the ignition wires only when the ignition is off. When the ignition is on, a high voltage pulse may be generated due to the distributor shaking.
- Connect and disconnect the wires of measuring instruments (speed meter/strobe) only when the ignition is off.
- It is prohibited to connect a radio interference suppression capacitor and a test lamp to the ignition coil ground terminal.
- Do not connect measuring instruments or a stroboscope to the positive terminal of the ignition coil while the engine is running.
- The ignition coil cannot be replaced with a coil of a different type.
- It is prohibited to heat the car to a temperature above 80°C (e.g. painting, drying). Start the engine only after the car has cooled down.
- Wash your car only with the ignition off.
- When performing electric and spot welding, disconnect the battery completely.
- Persons using a pacemaker are prohibited from working on the ignition system.
