Safety precautions when working with the ignition system (Mitsubishi Colt 4)

To avoid injury to people or failure of the electronic ignition system, the following precautions must be taken:

Do not touch or remove spark plug wires while the engine is running or while the starter is operating.

Disconnect the ignition wires only when the ignition is off.

Connect and disconnect the measuring instrument wires only when the ignition is off.

Do not connect the radio interference suppression capacitor or test lamp to the ignition coil ground terminal.

Measuring instruments and a stroboscope must not be connected to the positive terminal of the ignition coil while the engine is running.

Do not replace the ignition coil with a coil of a different type.

Do not heat the car to a temperature above 8°C, for example, painting, drying the car. Start the engine only when the car has cooled down.

Wash the car only with the ignition off.

When performing electric and spot welding, disconnect the battery completely.
