When working with the ignition system, take the following precautions:
  • a) Do not hold the ignition key for more than 10 seconds if the engine does not start.
  • b) Connect the tachometer strictly in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Some tachometers may not be compatible with this ignition system. Consult your dealer before purchasing a tachometer.
  • c) Do not allow the ignition coil terminals to touch ground,
  • d) Do not disconnect the battery while the engine is running.

Models equipped with distributor - SOHC engines

The ignition system includes an ignition switch, a battery, a coil with primary (low voltage) and secondary (high voltage) windings, a distributor, and spark plugs. On late-type distributors without a vacuum or centrifugal regulator, ignition advance is provided by the Electronic Control Unit (ECU).

Distributorless Ignition System (DIS) - DOHC Engines

The DIS system consists of spark plugs, spark plug wires, crankshaft angle sensor, power transistor, Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and related input devices that monitor various engine operating characteristics (such as engine speed, intake air volume, engine temperature, etc.). The ECU ensures precise ignition timing that matches these conditions.
