Removal the steering wheel lock (1992-98)





Removal and installation



1. Disconnect the battery from ground.

Cars 1983-91.



2. Remove both steering column covers, disconnect the wires and set aside.

3. Remove the ignition switch (if this is provided for by the design).

4. Use a hacksaw blade to cut grooves in the shear bolts and remove the bolts with a screwdriver.

5. Remove the lock.

6. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

7. While tightening the bolts of the new lock, continuously check its operation by turning the key.

8. Tighten the bolts first by hand and then with a hex key until the bolt heads break off.

Cars 1992-98.



9. Remove the lower trim of the front passenger compartment panel.

10. Remove both steering column covers.

11. Remove the lock illumination ring.

12. Turn the ignition key to the ACC position, press the side pin and remove the steering wheel lock drum.

13. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
