N - replace during assembly; 1, 4. Cotter pin; 2, 5. Castellated nut; 3. Rod ends; 6. Medium thrust; 7, 13. Self-clamping nuts; 8. Hairpin and bracket for attaching the pendulum arm; 9, 12. Cases; 10. Nuts; 11. Coupling; 14. Washer; 15. Pendulum lever; 16. Sleeve; A. Lubricate with 3M ATD 8663 sealant or equivalent
Removal and installation
Bipod
The removal of the bipod is facilitated on the removed steering gear.
1. Raise the front of the car and remove the wheel.
2. Loosen and unscrew the castle nut of the pin, use a puller to press the bipod pin out of the central link (do not use a wedge-shaped impact puller).
3. Unscrew the castle nut of the bipod shaft and press the bipod with the MB990809-01 puller.
4. Install the bipod in reverse order.
5. Align the marks on the shaft and on the bipod.
6. Tighten the bipod nut to 140 Nm.
7. Replace the traction boot and cotter pin, tighten the pin nut with a torque of 40 Nm.
