Windshield and Rear Window Wiper Switch Terminals (1994-95)

On 1983-89 vehicles, the windshield wiper switch is combined with the headlight switch, on 1990-93 vehicles, the windshield wiper switch is part of the steering column switch cluster, and since 1994, the windshield wiper switch is mounted separately on the steering column.
On vehicles manufactured before 1994, the rear window wiper and washer switch is a two-position switch mounted on the dashboard.
After 1994, the windshield wiper switches are mounted on the steering column.
Removal and installation
Cars 1983-93.
1. Pry and remove the switch from the front panel.
2. Check for continuity between the following switch terminals: 7-2 with the wiper switch in the ON position, 5-2 with the wiper switch in the OFF position, 5-2 and 3-8 with the wiper switch in the INT position, 7-6 with the washer switch in the ON position.
3. If there is no circuit between at least 1 pair of these terminals, then replace the switch.
Cars 1994-98.
1. Remove the steering column covers.
2. Loosen the screws and remove the switch.

3. Check for continuity between the following windshield switch terminals: 7–8 with the switch in the OFF position, 8–10 with the switch in the LO position, 9–10 with the switch in the HI position, 6–10 with the washer switch in the ON position.
4. Check for a circuit between the following rear window switch terminals: 2-7 when the switch is ON, 4-7 when the switch is OFF, 1-6 when the switch is INT, 2-3 when the washer switch is ON, 5-8 when the lights are ON.
5. If the circuit between the terminals does not correspond to the specified diagram, replace the switch.
6. Disconnect the battery from ground.
7. Disconnect the connector and install the new switch in reverse order.
