Checking the opening pressure of the radiator cap valve (Mitsubishi Space Star)

Examination

• Before checking, make sure the radiator cap is clean and free of contaminants, as rust or other foreign matter on the cap gasket may cause incorrect pressure gauge readings.
• To attach the radiator cap to the radiator cap tester, use a special adapter (Fig. 5.2).

• Increase the pressure until the pressure gauge needle stops

• Make sure the valve opens and closes within the specified limits.
• Replace the radiator cap if the valve opens and closes outside the specified limits.
