Check for conductivity between the relay contacts (Fig. 5.9).

1. When voltage is applied from the battery terminals to contacts 1 and 3 of the relay, there should be conductivity between contacts 4 and 5.

2. When the voltage is disconnected from contacts 2 and 3 of the relay, there should be no conductivity between contacts 4 and 5.
