The engine oil level should be checked approximately every 600 km, but at least once a week. The car must be parked on a level surface and the engine must be warm.
Pull out the dipstick to check (oil level gauge) and wipe it off with a clean cloth.
Reinsert the dipstick and pull it out again. The oil level must be between the upper and lower marks.
If the oil level is at the bottom mark, you need to add oil. The volume of oil between both marks is approximately 1 liter, so you can infer from this how much oil is missing.
Never overfill the engine with oil, i.e. its level should not rise beyond the upper mark.
Every 10 thousand kilometers or at least once a year, you need to change the engine oil and oil filter. The oil change interval should be shortened if the car is often driven with a trailer or in very dusty conditions, with continuous trips over short distances (e.g. commuting less than 7-8 km), at air temperatures below zero or at frequent stops in traffic jams, when the engine must be idling for a long time.
Raise the car in front (if it is needed) and remove the oil drain plug on the bottom of the oil pan.
To speed up the draining of the oil, remove either the oil filler cap or the oil level indicator. The oil should be warm, but not hot.
After draining the oil, clean the drain plug and screw it back into place.
