Checking the fan speed controller of the 4G9 engine (Mitsubishi Space Star)

1. Disconnect the connector from the condenser fan motor.

2. Start the engine and let it idle.

3. Turn on the air conditioning system and maintain the coolant temperature at no more than 80°C.

4. Using a voltmeter, measure the voltage between the connector contacts on the fan controller side and make sure that the voltage changes repeatedly as follows in accordance with the points (1) - (3) (Fig. 5.7).
  • (1) 0 V
  • (2) 8.2±2.6 V
  • (3) Battery voltage ±2.6V

5. If the voltage does not change repeatedly in accordance with the points (1) - (3), replace the radiator fan motor and fan controller.
