Note: This procedure applies to both left and right cables.
1. Remove the center panel (see Chapter 11). On some models it may be necessary to remove the floor panel and rear seats.
2. Completely unscrew and remove the adjusting nut from the cable.
3. Loosen the rear wheel nuts on the side of the vehicle where you are removing the cable. Raise the rear of the vehicle and support it on jack stands. Block the front wheels. Remove the wheel.
4. Remove the brake drum and shoe as described in section 6.
5. Disconnect the end of the cable from the parking brake lever on the brake shoe.
6. Remove the clamp securing the cable to the brake shield and pull the cable through the shield.

7. Unhook the cable from the clamp on the trailing arm.

8. Remove the rear seat cushion. Lift the carpet, unscrew the cable clamp bolt and release the cable from the clamp. Pull the cable and rubber grommet through the panel into the car.

9. Perform installation in the reverse order. After installation, adjust the parking brake (see section 13).
