Heater and Air Conditioner Control Unit — Removal and Installation and Cable Adjustment (Mitsubishi Galant 5)

1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.

2. Remove the decorative panel covering the control unit.

3. Remove the storage compartment and covers on the sides of the front panel under the instrument panel.

4. Disconnect the control cables on the side opposite the controls by loosening the cable clamps and separating the cables from the axles on the operating levers (see illustration).

5. Unscrew the control unit mounting screws (see illustration).

6. Carefully remove the assembly from the instrument panel.

7. Install the device in reverse order.

Adjusting the cable



Hot air blower cable - ventilation



8. Set the control handle to the hot air blowing position (see illustration). Move the lever all the way back, connect the cable to the lever and install the clamp.

Three fresh air blowers - recirculation



9. Set the control handle to the outside air position (see illustration). Move the lever back as far as it will go, connect the cable to the lever and install the clamp.

Temperature control cable



10. Set the control handle to the extreme left position (see illustration) Move the water valve lever to the upper position. Connect the cable to the lever and install the clamp.



12.10 To adjust the cable, move the temperature control knob all the way to the left (Precis model shown, others are similar)
