Removing
Open the hood of the engine compartment.
Disconnect the inlet hose of the windshield washer nozzles.
Mark the position of the hood by marking the hinge bolts with a felt-tip pen.
Remove the bolts from the hinges and remove the hood of the engine compartment. This requires an assistant. Before removing the bolts from the hinges, lay a soft material between the hood and the body to protect the paintwork.
If it is necessary to remove the hinges: Remove the cover of the drainage compartment and unscrew the bolts securing the hinges.
Installation
Install the engine compartment hood, screw in the bolts, straighten the hood and tighten the bolts.
Adjustment of position of a cowl of an impellent compartment
Loosen the hood latch bolts.
Move the hood in the longitudinal and transverse direction until it reaches a position that provides equal and parallel gaps with respect to the front fenders. For COLT/LANCER before 8.88, loosen the hinge bolts on the body, not on the hood.
If necessary, place spacer washers in the hinge and use them to adjust the height of the rear part of the hood.
Tighten hinge bolts to 20 Nm.
If it is necessary to adjust the height of the front part of the hood: Screw in the 2 rubber buffers to the end.
Move the lock so that the engine compartment hood in the closed position is flush with the front fenders. COLT/LANCER release before 8.88 (drawing) Loosen the locknut and the locking pin and rearrange the locking pin with a screwdriver so that in the closed position the engine compartment hood is parallel to the upper edge of the front fenders. After adjustment, tighten the locknut.
After that, adjust the adjusting buffer: Glue plasticine or rubber on both buffers and close the hood of the engine compartment. Open the hood and measure the thickness of the compressed plasticized rubber. Unscrew the adjusting buffer to the appropriate height. The hood in the closed position must lie on both adjustment buffers without tension.
Connect the hoses to the washer nozzles.
