Access to the antenna base

On 1983-91 vehicles, the front fender must be removed to access the antenna base.
This procedure defines the procedure for replacing the antenna base cable assembly.
The mast can be unscrewed from the base screen and removed separately.
1. To access the rear antenna cable, remove the floor sections, right front and rear seats, side trim, B-pillar trim, rear lower panel, carpet and disconnect the cable from the receiver and antenna side.
2. Remove the receiver and disconnect the antenna cable.
3. Press the clamps and remove the small item box; in the box opening, disconnect the cable latches.
4. Unscrew the nut of the lower base of the antenna on the wing, unscrew the antenna mast.
5. On 1983-91 vehicles, remove the front fender.
6. On 1992-98 vehicles, remove the wheel well cover panel.
7. Remove the top part of the antenna base (shield) and carefully pull the cable through the hole.
8. If the antenna is equipped with an electric drive, disconnect the drive connector.
9. Remove the antenna base and electric motor (if provided).
10. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
