To improve safety, it is possible to install a BZZ on the vehicle as additional equipment (additional passive safety system) and seat belts with pretensioners. These systems enhance crash safety by restraining front passengers in the event of a crash. When an impact is detected, the SRS is activated simultaneously with the pretensioner. The SRS consists of four airbag modules, an SRS control unit, side impact sensors, an SRS warning lamp and a clock spring. The airbags are located in the center of the steering wheel, above the glove compartment, and are integrated into the front seat backs as an assembly. Each airbag consists of a folded airbag and an inflator unit. The control unit located under the floor console controls the operation of the system and includes a safety acceleration sensor and an analogue (main) acceleration sensor. A side impact sensor inside the B-pillar monitors side impacts of the vehicle. The indicator lamp on the front panel of the instrument cluster shows the status of the SRS system. The clock spring is installed in the steering column. The SRS side airbag deploys when the side of the vehicle is struck with more force than a certain amount to protect the upper body of the front seat occupants in the event of an accident. The seat belt pretensioner is built into the inertia locking mechanism. Only qualified personnel are allowed to perform maintenance work on security systems and related components. Before starting work, service personnel must read this manual carefully. Special care must be taken when servicing the SRS system to avoid injury or death to service personnel (as a result of unauthorized deployment of the airbag or seat belt pretensioner), or the driver and front passenger (as a result of the SRS or pretensioner system not working properly after improper maintenance or repair).
