Gasoline Engine Generator (Mitsubishi Space Star)

Removal

On a 4G9 engine, remove the upper engine cover.
Remove the lower engine splash shield.
Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
Loosen the tension and remove the air conditioning compressor and power steering pump drive belt (Fig. 19.7).

Loosen the tension and remove the alternator drive belt.
Disconnect the electrical connectors and wires from the generator.
On an engine with an MPI injection system, unscrew the bolts and remove the water pump pulley.
Remove the bolts and the generator adjusting bar.
Loosen the nuts, remove the generator mounting bolt and remove the generator.
