Lamp of position N of the lever of the selector of an automatic transmission
If a malfunction occurs in one of the following components that ensure the normal operation of the automatic transmission, the control lamp for the position N of the automatic transmission selector lever will flash at a frequency of approximately 1 Hz. In this case, check the trouble codes.
Elements, the malfunction of which causes the selector lever N position lamp to flash:
- engine crankshaft speed sensor;
- input shaft speed sensor;
- output shaft speed sensor;
- one of the solenoid control valves;
- shift timing mismatch.
Warning. If the N·mode control lamp flashes at a frequency of approximately 2 Hz (more often than 1 Hz), this means that the temperature of the fluid in the automatic transmission is too high. Stop the vehicle in a safe place and wait until the N·mode warning light goes off. Fault codes can be read using the MUT-II special tool or the N position lamp of the automatic transmission selector lever.
