Bleeding Fuel Pressure (Fuel Injected Models) (Mitsubishi Galant 5)

1. Locate the fuel pump electrical connector - if necessary see section 5 (some models have access from the trunk or from under the rear seat)

2. Remove the fuel tank filler cap.

3. Apply the handbrake, start the engine and set it to idle mode.

4. Disconnect the electrical cable from the fuel pump (see illustration).

5. Let the engine run until the remaining fuel is used up. The engine will stall

6. To ensure that all the fuel has been used up, crank the engine with the starter for five seconds.

7. Once the repairs have been made and the connections have been restored, reconnect the fuel pump and start the engine - starting may take a little longer than usual as the fuel needs to reach the injectors.
