Examination

1. Sometimes you have to lift the car to service or replace some components (exhaust pipe suspension units, for example). Every time you work under the car, check the condition of the fuel lines and fittings.

2. Check for cracks, twisting, deformation or blockage.

3. Make sure all clamps securely attach hoses and lines to the underside of the vehicle.

4. Check the tightness of all clamps that secure the rubber hoses to the metal tubes.

Replacement

5. If it is necessary to replace any damaged section, use original hoses or tubes made of exactly the same material. Do not install parts made of poor quality or incorrect material to avoid fuel leaks or fire

6. Always note the routing of hoses and tubes, as well as the location of clamps and clips, before disconnecting or disassembling any part of the fuel line system so that the new section can be installed in the same way. On fuel-injected models, relieve pressure from the system before disconnecting fuel lines or fittings (see section 2).

7. Before disconnecting fuel system components on carbureted models, relieve pressure from the fuel tank by removing the filler cap.
