1. The condition of the windshield wiper assemblies should be checked regularly in accordance with the vehicle's routine maintenance schedule (see Section Schedule of current maintenance of Mitsubishi Galant/Mirage/Diamante cars). The brushes are inspected for mechanical damage, signs of loosening of the component fastenings and wear of the rubber working elements.

2. Over time, road film accumulates on the working surfaces of the brushes, which leads to a noticeable decrease in the efficiency of the windshield wipers. Regularly wash the brushes with a medium-concentration cleaning solution.

3. During the operation of the windshield wipers, the fasteners may gradually loosen spontaneously; the reliability of their fit and tightening should also be checked regularly.

4. If cracks or signs of wear are detected in the rubber working elements, they are replaced.

5. Move the windshield wiper arm away from the glass. Pull up the locking tab and remove the blade mounting attachment from the arm (lead) of the assembly. The accompanying illustrations show examples of the designs of some of the wiper assemblies used in the vehicle models discussed in this Manual.

6. Remove the brush element from the metal/polymer frame.

7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Make sure that the brush is securely fixed to the wiper arm.
