Seat belt — removal and installation (Mitsubishi Carisma)

When not in use, the seat belts must be wound onto the inertia drums.

Seat belts can only be cleaned with soap and water. Dry the seat belts and only then wind them onto the inertia drums.

Seat belts that have been subjected to heavy loads must be replaced.

When replacing the seat belt, mark the location of the washers and gaskets and do not mix them up when installing.

Front seat belt

Removal

To remove, follow these steps.

1. Remove the front and rear door sill trims.

2. Remove the lower center pillar trim.

3. Pull towards you and remove cover 1 (Fig. 17.70) of the seat belt guide.

4. Loosen the bolt and remove the seat belt guide 2.

5. Loosen the screw securing the belt guide to the pillar, then loosen the seat belt mounting bolts 6 and remove it.

6. Remove the upper trim 3 of the central pillar.

7. Loosen the bolts and remove the adjustable seat belt mounting bracket 5 on the center pillar.

Installation

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

Rear seat belt

Removal

To remove, follow these steps.

1. Remove the rear seat cushion.

2. Loosen the bolts and remove the inner and outer parts 6 and 7 (Fig. 17.71) of the middle seat belt.

3. Loosen the screw and remove the side support 3 of the rear seat back.

4. Pull the seat belt guide cover towards you and remove it.

5. Loosen the bolt and remove the seat belt guide.

6. Remove the trim of the 2 rear pillar.

7. Loosen the seat belt and inertia drum mounting bolts and remove the outer section of the 4 rear seat side seat belts.
