Checking the operation of the low pressure fuel pump (Mitsubishi Carisma)

Check the operation of the low-pressure fuel pump using the MUT–II device by forcibly turning on the pump.

If the low pressure fuel pump is OK, check its electrical circuit, and if the pump does not work, check it as follows.

1. Turn the ignition key to the "LOCK" ("OFF") position.

2. Remove the rear seat cushion.

3. Remove the protective cover.

4. Disconnect the fuel pump unit connector. Listen to the noise of the operating pump when connecting the battery to the fuel pump unit connector, as shown in Fig. 8.2: "+" to contact "5", and short contact "4" to "ground".

5. Check for fuel pressure by lightly pinching the fuel hose with your fingers.

6. Connect the fuel pump assembly connector.

7. Reinstall the protective cover and rear seat cushion.
