Measuring fuel pressure on the line between the high-pressure fuel pump and the injectors (Mitsubishi Carisma)

Caution! The pressure in the line between the high-pressure fuel pump and the injectors must be measured after you have made sure that the fuel pressure between the low-pressure pump and the high-pressure fuel pump is normal.


1. Connect the MUT-II device to the diagnostic connector.

2. Disconnect the intermediate connector of the injectors (Fig. 8.4).

3. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position.

4. Select the required item in the "Data list" menu of the MUT–II device.

5. Turn the engine crankshaft with the starter for 2 seconds or more and visually check for fuel leaks through the connections.

Caution: If fuel leaks are present, stop the engine immediately and eliminate the source of the leak.


6. Make sure that the fuel pressure is at least 1 MPa for 20 s after the engine crankshaft has been turned by the starter.

If the fuel pressure is below 1 MPa, this means that there is a leak in the high-pressure line (the fuel system must be checked).

7. Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position.



8. Connect the intermediate connector of the injectors.

9. Start the engine and let it idle.

10. With the engine idling, measure the fuel pressure. The nominal fuel pressure value is 4.0–6.9 MPa.

11. Check that the fuel pressure in idle mode does not decrease even after pressing the accelerator pedal several times.

12. If the fuel pressure does not correspond to the required value, determine the faults and eliminate them in accordance with Table 8.3.

13. Turn off the engine and turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position.

14. Disconnect the MUT-II device.
