Adjusting the throttle position sensor (Mitsubishi Carisma)

1. Connect the MUT-II device to the diagnostic connector.

2. Disconnect the throttle servo connector (Fig. 8.5).

3. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position, but do not start the engine.

4. Check the output voltage of the throttle position sensor (channel 1) by holding it with your finger in the fully closed position. The nominal value is 0.4-0.6 V.

5. If the measured voltage is greater than the set limit, loosen the sensor mounting bolts. Rotate the sensor body until the sensor output voltage reaches the nominal value.

6. Check the output voltage of the throttle position sensor (channel 2) by holding it with your finger in the fully closed position. The nominal value is 4.2-4.8 V.

7. If the measured voltage is greater than the specified limit, replace the throttle position sensor.

8. Turn the ignition key to the "LOCK" ("OFF") position.

9. Connect the throttle servo connector.

10. Disconnect the MUT-II device.

11. If a diagnostic trouble code is displayed, clear it with the MUT-II or disconnect the negative battery cable for more than 10 seconds. Then reconnect the negative battery cable.

12. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position, wait about 10 seconds, then turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position. If the battery was disconnected, let the engine idle for about 10 minutes.
