- The exhaust system consists of three main parts. The exhaust gas system provides exhaust gases to the atmosphere, reduces the concentration of pollutants, reduces engine noise to the required level with minimal power loss. In order for the exhaust system to perform its functions, it must be in good condition. The condition of the exhaust system also affects engine power and fuel consumption.
- The exhaust system consists of an exhaust manifold, exhaust pipe, catalytic converter and mufflers.
- The exhaust pipes provide connections between the elements of the exhaust system.
- Silencers are designed to smooth out pulsations in the exhaust gas flow and reduce noise levels.
- The exhaust system is attached to the bottom of the car using elastic elements to reduce vibration from the passage of exhaust gases.
- Exhaust gas leaks in the exhaust system are usually caused by damaged gaskets and leaky pipe connections, or damage to mufflers from impacts while driving. Exhaust gas leaks lead to an increase in noise, as well as the appearance of vibration from the contact of the elements of the exhaust system with the car body.
- Before removing or disassembling the exhaust system components, impregnate the bolts and nuts of the exhaust system components with a loosening fluid. Wait 5 minutes for liquid to penetrate into the threaded connection.
- After working on the exhaust system, move the car's exhaust system to the sides, check that it does not touch the car body. If not, replace the exhaust rubber mounts.
Warning. Before removing or inspecting the components of the exhaust system, make sure that it has cooled down sufficiently.
Note. If the exhaust system is installed skewed, this will be noticeable by the presence of deaf and rattling sounds. In addition, internal stresses can cause cracks to appear. Minor leaks at the pipe connections of the new exhaust system are eliminated with sealing putty.
