Wheels and tires — general description (Mitsubishi Colt 2)

1. All vehicles covered by this manual are equipped with metric size steel or textile radial tires (See diagram). Using tires of other sizes or types may significantly affect the vehicle's handling and ride quality. Do not mix tires, such as radial and bias, as this may seriously affect the vehicle's handling. It is recommended that both tires be replaced at the same time, either front or rear, and if replacing only one tire, ensure that the new tire is the same size, type, and tread pattern as the other.

2. Since tire pressure has a major impact on vehicle handling and tire wear, tire pressure should be checked at least once a month or before long trips (See the relevant chapter).

3. The wheel must be replaced if it is bent, deformed, the tire is leaking air, the holes for the wheel mounting bolts are bored out, if the wheel is rusted, has acquired an oval shape, or if the wheel mounting nuts cannot be tightened tightly enough. It is not recommended to repair a wheel if it requires welding or work hardening.

4. Wheel balancing is important for the vehicle's handling, braking ability and high-speed performance. Unbalanced wheels can impair vehicle handling and tire life. When installing a new tire on a rim, the wheel must be balanced in a car repair shop that has the necessary equipment.
