Keys
1. Three keys are included in the standard package: two main keys and the third one is additional.
2. Master keys fit all locks. Put one of them (with identification label attached) in a safe place as a spare key.
3. The additional key fits all locks except for the trunk lid/tailgate and glove box.
4. The identification number of the keys is stamped on a special label attached to one of the main keys. Copy the number and keep the key and tag in a separate place so that in case of loss you can order the key from a Mitsubishi service center.
5. To start the engine equipped with an immobilizer, a special electronic chip is embedded in the key head (see below).
Electronic immobilizer
General information
The electronic immobilizer provides additional anti-theft protection for the vehicle.
The components of the engine immobilization system include: a special key with an embedded electronic chip, a receiving antenna, an electronic control unit, an ECM and a specially designed ignition switch. Each time the key is turned to the ON position, an electronic chip embedded in the head of the key sends an identification code (7) to the receiving antenna of the ignition switch. In order for the engine to start, the identification code issued by the chip must match the code recorded in the immobilizer control unit. If the codes match, the immobilizer sends a signal to the ECM (8), allowing the engine to start. Without fulfilling the above requirements, starting the engine is not possible. An electronic immobilizer significantly reduces the risk of car theft.
Precautionary measures
1. Do not bring metal objects close to the ignition key turned to the ON position.
2. In order to avoid damage to the electronic chip mounted in the head, try not to allow the key to come into contact with hard sharp objects when carrying the key in your pocket (penknife type).
3. Do not upgrade the immobilizer - changes can lead to system failure.
4. If one of the keys is lost, immediately order a new one from a Mitsubishi service center.
5. Making a replacement or spare key requires entering a new identification code into the control unit - the car will have to be driven to a service station and provided to the master along with a set of all available keys.
Note. The design of the immobilization system allows registration of up to 8 different identification codes; thus, the owner can have no more than 8 spare keys.
6. If the engine does not start when the ignition key is turned to the START position, you should check the condition of the immobilization system components - drive the car to a Mitsubishi authorized service station.
Door locks
Attention! In no case do not start driving without making sure that all the doors of the car are tightly closed! Do not leave children unattended inside the vehicle. Try not to forget the keys in a locked car.
Front doors
1. The procedure for unlocking and locking the door with the key is shown in the illustration.
2. To unlock the door from inside the car, pull the inner door handle towards you; the doors are locked by pushing the handle inside the niche of the facing panel.
3. It is also possible to lock the front doors without using a key. Set the inside lock handle to the locked position and, while holding the outside handle up, (2), slam the door (3).
Note. If the key is left in the ignition lock, the ability to lock the car door from the outside is blocked.
Rear doors
1. Install the internal lock handle (1) to the locked position and close the door (2).
2. The design of the rear door locks provides for the possibility of blocking them against opening from the car. This feature prevents accidental opening of the doors and is especially useful when carrying small children in the back seat.
3. On the end surface of each of the rear doors there is a lock lock lever, when it is moved to the position "Included" the door is blocked.
Unified lock management
Attention! Repeated continuous switching of the handle between positions "locked up" And "unlocked" may cause the built-in single lock protection circuit to operate and shut down the system. In this case, wait approximately one minute before using the inside door handle or key.
All models
1. The special design of the drive provides the possibility of simultaneous operation of the locks of all the doors of the car when using the inside handle of the driver's door, as well as when unlocking / locking any of the front doors using the key.
2. The rear doors can be individually locked/unlocked using their inside handle.
Models Wagon
1. On Universal models, an additional possibility is provided for actuating the locks of all car doors when unlocking / locking the tailgate with a key.
2. On vehicles with a single lock control system, all doors can be locked or unlocked at the same time by locking or unlocking the tailgate with the key.
Remote control of locks
1. On appropriately equipped models, unlocking/locking all vehicle doors (including tailgate on Wagon models) can be made from the remote control (DU) by clicking on the corresponding button (LOCK/UNLOCK).
Note. When pressing the buttons, the signal lamp mounted in the remote control should work.
2. If the interior light switch is in the [•] position, then when the door is locked, the light will flash twice, while unlocking the door will turn on the light for 3 seconds.
3. The remote lock control system is deactivated when the ignition key is turned to the ACC or ON position, as well as when any of the doors are not tightly closed.
4. If none of the car doors are opened within 30 seconds after pressing the UNLOCK button on the remote control, all locks will automatically re-lock.
5. The remote control operates at a distance of up to approximately 4 meters, however, the range of the remote control may change if the car is parked near a TV transmitter or radio station.
6. The failure of the lock actuators to operate from the remote control may be due to the depletion of the energy resources of the internal battery of the latter. sign "replanting" battery is to reduce the brightness of the signal lamp mounted in the remote control.
7. The battery should be replaced at a Mitsubishi authorized workshop.
8. If you lose the remote control, contact a Mitsubishi service center.
Precautionary measures
The remote control is a delicate electronic device and requires special care when handling:
- Do not subject the remote to shock;
- Try to avoid exposing the remote control to direct sunlight;
- Keep the remote control away from moisture.
Tailgate (station wagon models)
1. To open the tailgate after first unlocking its lock (see above) pull the lever on the outside handle of the door assembly.
2. Grasp the special inner handle to close the door.
3. When leaving the car in the parking lot, give the duty officer only an additional key, with which it is not possible to open the tailgate.
Trunk lid
1. The trunk lid can be unlocked from inside the car using a special drive lever, as well as from the outside using a key. Opening the lid activates the luggage compartment light.
2. Additional locking of the luggage compartment lid lock can be made by moving the drive lever on the lock assembly to the appropriate position.
Attention! When the lock is locked, the lid can only be opened from the outside with the key!
3. To close the lid, grasp the special handle, pull the lid down and press lightly.
4. When leaving the car in the parking lot, give the duty officer only an additional key, with which it is not possible to open the luggage compartment lid.
