Contactless ignition systems with distributor
Engines 1.5 l, 1.8 l, 2.4 l and 3.5 l
The key transistor is mounted in the ignition distributor, the description of the procedures for removing and installing which can be found below (in Section Removal and installation the ignition distributor (models with contactless ignition system)).
2.0 SOHC and 3.0L SOHC engines
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Warning! If the car stereo system is equipped with a security code, make sure you have the correct combination to activate the audio system before disconnecting the battery!
2. Disconnect the wiring from the key transistor assembly.
3. Remove the mounting screws and remove the transistor.
4. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
Direct Ignition System (DIS)
Engines 1.6L, 2.0L DOHC and 2.4L DOHC
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Warning! If the car stereo system is equipped with a security code, make sure you have the correct combination to activate the audio system before disconnecting the battery!
2. Disconnect the wiring from the key transistor assembly.
3. Remove the mounting screws and remove the transistor.
4. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
Engines 1.8 l m 2.4 l since 1999.

Engines 3.0L DOHC
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

2. Remove the air intake plenum chamber (upper section of the intake manifold).
3. Disconnect the wiring from the key transistor assembly.
4. Remove the mounting screws and remove the transistor.
5. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
