1. Before starting the inspection procedure, prepare the vehicle according to the following points.

a) The coolant temperature is in the range of 80-95°C.

b) Lighting, radiator electric fan and all additional equipment: off.

c) Gearbox: CVT or automatic transmission selector lever in position "P".

d) Set the steering wheel to the straight-ahead position.

2. If the tester was not connected before checking, turn off the ignition and connect the tester to the diagnostic connector under the instrument panel.

3. Start the engine and let it idle.

4. Check that the value of the basic ignition advance angle corresponds to the nominal value (see section "Checking the ignition timing angle").

5. Let the engine idle for 2 minutes.

6. Select the appropriate item on the tester (sub-item No.22 of the Actuator test item for MUT-II) and check the base idle speed.

Nominal value of basic idle speed:
  • 4G 15-GDI - 650±50 rpm
  • 4G93-GDI — 600±50 rpm
  • MPI - 700±50 rpm

Note:
  • The idle speed is controlled automatically by the idle speed control system.
  • For GDI engines, after 4 minutes or more of engine operation at the base idle speed, the idle speed value will temporarily become 700+50 rpm (4G15) or 750+50 rpm (4G93). This is called the "purge" mode, and it cleans the exhaust system.

7. If the idle speed does not correspond to the nominal value, check the components of the fuel injection system (see the relevant chapter).

8. Turn off the ignition and disconnect the tester.
